A natural rock containing one or more calcium phosphate minerals of sufficient purity and quantity as to allow its use, either directly or after concentration, in the manufacturer of commercial products. Most phosphate rock deposits utilized in fertilizer manufacturing in the US and Canada are based on the apatite class of minerals, primarily calcium phosphates.
