Established under the Agricultural Risk Protection Act of 2000 and amended under the 2002 Farm Bill, the Agricultural Management Assistance program provides financial assistance for conserving practices under 3- to 10-year contracts. The program focuses on producers in 15 States where participation in the Federal Crop Insurance Program has historically been low. The 2008 Farm Bill added Hawaii to the list of designated States.
