The environmental ethic maintaining that all species are of equal value and that humans have no right to reduce life except to satisfy basic needs. This often is identified as a biocentric worldview. It maintains that the anthropocentric worldview is the key cause of environmental problems. Proponents have been involved with radical environmental organizations such as Earth First!, the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
