saturated soil paste

A reference-state mixture of soil and water used for measuring electrical conductivity (EC), sodium absorption ratio (SAR), and pH. At saturation, the soil glistens slightly as it reflects light, flows slowly when the container is tipped, and slides freely and cleanly from a spatula.
