Accounts Payable

An amount owed to a creditor (i.e., an amount owed someone else), usually arising from the purchase of goods or services or other contractual obligation (not evidenced by a note payable). Accounts payable are normally classified in the current liabilities section of the balance sheet. (II-20, III-3, 14)
