Nontoxic chemicals used as coolants in refrigerators and air-conditioners, as propellants in aerosol cans, and as solvents. They are linked with ozone depletion and global warming. CFCs are potent greenhouse gases which are not regulated by the Kyoto Protocol since they are covered by the Montreal Protocol.
