Meeting 10
Session 1
Stuart Rhea, Cale Boriack, Sarah Hovinga, Marie Beuret, Daoud Urdu, Conny Graumans, Roberto Garcia, Clement Jonquet
Review of AHG Report for plenary
Reviewed current draft of document
Question on if there is any more documentation of statement about what areas of agriculture are in scope
Livestock was out of scope, though considered that to be adjacent, and likely could leverage some of the same concepts
Question specifically on horticulture, grow flowers was not considered crop by some segments. refer to it as a cultivation
Believe it is semantically driven, people using different definitions for the same term, or different terms for the same definition
But plan would be to have horticulture in scope
Question to clarify the title and what is being submitted
Data model vs. vocabulary
Add more specificity on what other existing resources that have been reviewed
Believe some of the detail may be more relevant to form 4, not this more high level report to the TC leadership group
Review Form 4 for creation of NWIP
Some discussion on how widely used different technologies and systems are are used in agricultural industry and that this NWIP should not be tied to a specific technology
e.g. semantic web resources, vs flat files or other methods for managing semantics
Semantic resources mentioned to add to the list:
For reference to formal (ie. Already available and semantically encoded) references you can check AgroPortal: WCACROPS, ICC, CROPUSAGE, CVO, UN/CEFACT eDAPLOS, eCrop
And by the way Bayer has produce a formal (semantic web version of EEPO code) : https://agroportal.lirmm.fr/ontologies/EPPO
Semantic Standards, such as AIM (Agricultural Information Model), SAREF4AGRI
And it’s not like AgroPortal doesn’t help to do so ;) from all of the above, except eDAPLOS, eCrop (not available in semantic web format) all the rest of the references are in AgroPortal
Discussion on GS1 codes, use in agriculture and acceptance of different business models for unique identification
Also some lists that are approved for trade (import/export) that are relevant as well
Point that all the lists above meet a need but there is still no global reference list
Goal to have the NWIP ready for review (not vote) next week at the plenary
Group needs access to Teams for group editing:
Daoud.urdu@wur.nl, sarah.hovinga@bayer.com, marie.beuret@agroedieurope.fr, cale.boriack@cnhind.com, roberto.garcia@udl.cat,
Likely the last meeting of this group in this form, should be transitioning to Working Group following submission of NWIP/Form 4
Not sure who will be leader at that stage or who members will be
