Applications occur after the crop has emerged from the soil. This is an efficient method for applying nitrogen fertilizers because the nitrogen is applied just prior to the period of greatest demand. Drip, center pivot, and linear move irrigation systems may be the most efficient ways to apply post-emergent fertilizer.
