It is ground limestone containing calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and magnesium carbonate (MgCO3), hydrated lime (calcium hydroxide, CaOH) or burned lime (calcium oxide, CaO). Lime is used to reduce soil acidity and provide Ca and Mg as essential plant nutrients.
