Preconditions

  1. Product must have been ordered.
  2. Product is defined in the master inventory list.
  3. Warehouse management system is in place (not necessarily including auto-ID equipment).
  4. Received advanced ship notice (ASN or ESN).
  5. Product is in the vicinity of the warehouse.

Minimal Guarantees

Success Guarantees

  1. Only products in acceptable condition have been received.
  2. Correct product, quantity, and lot number (where applicable) has been accurately recorded in the WMS.
  3. The product was delivered (received by) the correct location.
  4. All applicable stakeholders have been notified of receipt.

Trigger

The first step.

Main Success Scenario

  1. The vehicle operator makes an unload request and presents BOL to warehouse staff.
  2. Warehouse staff reviews BOL.
  3. Warehouse staff informs vehicle operator of unload location.
  4. Warehouse staff weighs bulk product (if applicable).
  5. Vehicle operator moves vehicle to unload location.
  6. Move the product from the truck to the inspection/staging area.
  7. Inspect product units. Possible Outcomes
  8. Warehouse staff signs off on bill of lading.
  9. Warehouse staff notes lot numbers or serial numbers (if applicable).
  10. Warehouse staff stores product in specific location, noting the location on the paperwork (if applicable).
  11. Add product to inventory.
