Nontraditional economics that focus attention not only on allocation and distribution of resources but also on the larger ecosystem or environment. The economy is viewed as a subsystem of the larger and finite ecosystem. Attention centers on the flow of matter and energy from the environment as raw materials and back to the environment as waste.
