common land unit identifier

The CLUID is a globally-unique identifier (GUID) that is a 36-character identifier assigned to a spatial feature such as the CLU. The CLUID is not visible to the user but will provide the needed uniqueness for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) (and other Ag data providers) to maintain electronic records as they are moved and merged among computers and offices. The CLUID is a textual representation of a GUID. There is a common machine algorithm for generating GUIDs that makes them unique. The FSA generates a new GUID every time a CLU record changes. The unique CLUID number will be used only once. If the CLU number changes, the CLUID will change.
