Uruguay Round

The multilateral trade negotiations under the auspices of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) during 1986-94, leading up to the Uruguay Round Agreement on Agriculture, among other provisions. The Agreement on Agriculture covers four areas: export subsidies, market (or import) access, internal (or domestic) supports, and sanitary and phytosanitary rules. The agreement was implemented over a 6-year period, 1995-2000.
