friction loss
Amount of pressure lost through pipes due to water movement and turbulence. Amount of pressure lost as water flows through an irrigation system (due to friction against the pipe walls). As water moves through an irrigation system, pressure is lost because of turbulence created by the moving water. This turbulence can be created in pipes, valves or fittings. These losses are referred to as friction losses; also referred to as pressure loss.
