Title of Role: Operational Management Board (OMB) Director

Purpose of Role (how it relates to our mission): AgGateway is a volunteer organization that promotes, enables and expands eBusiness in agriculture. This role is responsible for ongoing day-to-day management of AgGateway. It also provides guidance on any issues that the operating committees or councils are unable to decide. This role provides direct communication to the council it represents to ensure they are informed of any decisions made. All decisions and communication are based on achieving AgGateway's Vision and Mission Statements.

Role: OMB Director is expected to:

  • Be familiar with the organization's mission, purposes, goals, policies, programs, strengths and needs.
  • Be an advocate to the organization in the industry
  • Serve as primary liaison between the council and the OMB
  • Model and monitor the community and professional image of the organization
  • Act unbiased and make decisions that are the best for the organization
  • Participate in the AgGateway MYM and annual conference; as well as monthly management team and council calls.


  • Serve the industry in a leadership role
  • Broaden your experience and knowledge of the organization
  • Provides an opportunity to network with other leaders in the industry
  • Understanding of the processes and procedures of an industry organization
  • Your company is seen by our members as active and in leadership roles
  • Help to influence the direction of AgGateway through OMB activities


  • Set annual tactical goals and objectives for AgGateway
  • Review contracts and monitoring performance against them
  • Appoint standing committee chairpersons and assist with recruiting committee members
  • Officially represent AgGateway
  • Manage the organization's finances
  • Recommend budgets to the Board of Directors
  • Recommend membership fees to the Strategic Board of Directors
  • Maintain regular communications with the membership
  • Bringing forward any new business or operational issues from the council they represent
  • Report updates back to the council they represent


  • AgGateway Member representative of a Voting Member organization in good standing
  • A Voting Member of the Council for which they are the representative on the OMB
  • A commitment to and understanding of the agricultural and related industries, based on experience
  • A commitment to and understanding of AgGateway, with past experience on the council they represent
  • Operational level experience within the industry
  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the agricultural industry
  • Ability to bring an industry perspective rather than just the perspective of their own organization
  • Ability to commit the time necessary to fulfill the duties of the role
  • Council leadership experience is preferable but not required
  • Understanding of organization's mission, purposes, goals, policies, programs, strengths and needs.

Costs: Will incur cost associated traveling to the AgGateway Meetings

Number of People Needed:     1 

Time Commitment   (frequency): 1-3 hours a month

Duration/Term: Appointed for a  2 year term by the OMB Director
